Two GPBX Middle School Students Win National Novel Writing Month

Girls Prep Bronx Middle School students Morayah and Taniyah won NANO (National Novel Writing Month) by completing a novel in November. National Novel Writing Month organizes events where children and adults find the inspiration, encouragement, and structure they need to achieve their creative potential. Each November, participants are challenged to complete an entire novel in just 30 days. Taniyah wrote One Chance and Morayah wrote Mary and her Twisted Purple Lotus

Morayah and Taniyah wrote about 6000 words in only 30 days, with minimal support.  They used Learning Labs on Fridays to help reach their goal, but almost all of the writing was done at home.  With close to 20 girls signed up at the beginning of the month, only these two demonstrated the tremendous grit and merit necessary to reach their goal.
