What makes Public Prep Academies Special?

Public Prep supports three tuition-free single-sex public charter schools across five campuses, serving NYC boys and girls in grades PreK-8th. While each school community benefits from unique offerings, the below commonalities unite the schools across the network. Scroll down to learn about some of the exciting programs and partnerships that make Public Prep Academies stand out as an exemplary network of schools.

Starting Early

Our network starts in PreK! Having started with just 75 students in grades K-1, we now serve nearly 1,800 students in grades Pre-K through 8th.

Namesakes

We offer exceptional role models for our students through our Namesakes, the influential men and women for whom our classrooms are named. See a full list of our classroom Namesakes here.

Experienced Teachers

We hire and retain outstanding teachers, with an average of more than five years of experience.

Path to College Completion

We create the self-expectation of college completion through College & Career week, matching families' contributions to NY 529 College Savings Accounts, and more!

Character Development

We foster character development in our students, ensuring they develop brotherhood/sisterhood, scholarship, merit, and responsibility through volunteering, leading both in the classroom and on student council, and beyond! Click here to learn more about our core values.

Hands-On Learning

We offer a well-balanced curriculum which includes daily history, science, and the arts.

We nurture students' individual talents through visual arts, yoga, fitness, music, theater programs, our partnership with the esteemed National Dance Institute, and more!

School Spirit

We celebrate scholars' success through monthly Unity Meetings.
