All applications start with the submission of the online application. All candidates who pass the initial application materials screen will be invited to schedule a phone interview. In-person interviews are granted to those who pass the initial phone screen. Other interview supplements may be necessary during this point of the interview process as well (ex. teachers would need to demo in front of students).
Each position within the Public Preparatory Network has specific qualifications. As you are applying, you should thoroughly review job descriptions in our online portal. Note: We strongly encourage anyone applying for an instructional/teaching role to be certified in the content area and have an active TEACH account.
We encourage all of our instructional employees to be NYS certified. If you are interested in moving to New York City and you are working towards state reciprocity or obtaining your certificate, we have a consultant who can help you navigate the process upon hire. Please note that requirements vary by state. Please visit here to check on your eligibility for reciprocity.
Each application we receive is carefully vetted against the job qualifications laid out in the job description. If you pass our initial application materials screen, a member of the Public Prep Recruitment Team will reach out to you to schedule a phone interview.
Candidates who pass the phone screen are scheduled for an in-person interview. This stage includes a demonstration of skills and an interview with the supervisor for the role. Subsequent steps include meeting with other members of our team and speaking with your references.
No. Public Prep’s recruitment and hiring philosophy is to find the most highly-experienced individuals to join our teams, irrespective of age, race, gender, and/or sexual orientation. Only by identifying the most qualified staff, will we be fulfilling our mission of educating our scholars to make it to and through college. We welcome anyone who is passionate about education, especially single-sex education, to apply.
You may apply to more than one position, if they are all listed as open on our portal. You must fill out a separate application for each different role that you are interested in. However, we would like you to consider applying for the role or roles that best suit your skills and qualifications.
Our process begins with the online application and all applicants must apply online first before they can be considered for a position. If you are having issues submitting your application, email email@example.com and a member of our recruitment team will assist as soon as he or she can. Remember, you only need to fill in the fields that are marked required.
When you submit your references on the online application, we will not reach out to them until the final stages of the interview process. Before we reach out to them, we will notify you and ask if it is okay for us to check your references. When you do submit your references, please include at least one direct supervisor in your most recent or current position.
Your cover letter is an opportunity to add a personal touch to your application. The key to a strong cover letter is that it clearly articulates how your previous experience and personal aspirations align with those of the position you are applying for and the organization. A cover letter is not a place to simply retell your educational and career background. That is done by your resume.
Ultimately, your cover letter should complement your resume and provide a holistic picture of who you are as a candidate for the recruitment team.
