Character Development

Girls Prep Lower East Side Elementary School develops students’ character through our Core Values of scholarship, merit, sisterhood, and responsibility. We also help students develop non-cognitive strengths such as resilience, determination, self-control, perseverance, gratitude, empathy, and optimism. We celebrate students' character development and demonstration of our Core Values at our Unity Meetings, which are school-wide celebrations focused around each of our core values. Finally, we expose our students to exceptional role models who have overcome adversity in order to make a positive impact on the world.

Sisterhood
I depend on my sisters, and they depend on me.
Merit
The harder I try, the more I achieve.
Responsibility
I choose to do the right thing (even when no one is watching)!
Scholarship
I learn new things every day.
