Girls Only STEM Day

On Saturday, October 15th, twenty Girls Prep Lower East and Bronx Middle School scholars were invited by the US Naval Academy STEM Center for Education & Outreach to attend an all-day, Girls Only STEM workshop in Annapolis, Maryland. These middle school girls all had to rise between 4 and 4:30 AM in the morning to take a three hour bus ride to the beautiful riverside campus. There, the girls worked with female faculty and cadets to experience hands-on activities in science at one of the finest engineering institutions in the world. This partnership, like our relationships with Cornell University and Stephens College, will allow our girls, and soon boys, to have immersive college experiences and help demystify what it takes to ultimately be successful in college.
